Pairs of schools, colleges and universities, especially when they are close to each other either geographically or in their areas of specialization, often establish a college rivalry with each other over the years.
This rivalry can extend to both academics and athletics, the latter being typically more well known to the general public.
GOVERNMENT COLLEGE
PRIVATE COLLEGE
Hanwool College was established on 1962 by a Korean Sports enthusiast with the cooperation of the government while Seungri College was established on 1987 by the Gwang Corporation, which is the biggest private sector in Korea.
The directors for both colleges are very good friends and would often pair up the colleges when it comes to events.
The athletes on the other hand are not too keen with the idea seeing as both colleges stand on different grounds. Seungri is a school for the wealthy while students from Hanwool come from all walks of life.
There has been friction when it comes to the amount of successful alumnis from these two colleges despite them having different sports. Most of which come from the coaches and students themselves. Through the years, students from both colleges have developed a heated competition especially when competing on international tournaments.
Both Seungri and Hanwool stand equally as the best sports colleges in South Korea. However, students from both colleges beg to differ and would always state their school is the best thus leading to more conflict.
